Valdostaโs fire chief, who has served with the Valdosta Fire Department for 30 years, is retiring, the city announced.
Fire Chief Brian Boutwell is set to retire on November 30.
In a Tuesday statement, the city thanked Boutwell for his time with the fire department.
โChief Boutwell has served the department with professionalism and dedication, and the City extends its appreciation for his years of service to the community,โ the statement read.
Valdosta Mayor Scott James Matheson shared his thanks for Boutwellโs years of service.
โValdosta has been truly blessed with a fire department led by one of the finest,โ he said. โChief Boutwell took this department to new heights, strengthening not only operations but the spirit of the service that defines the VFD.โ
