Nearly a dozen family members escape Gwinnett County blaze that injured 1 firefighter, officials say

A firefighter was hurt while trying to put out a fire at a home in Gwinnett County early Wednesday morning. Firefighters responded to the home along the 1900 block of Grouse Court NW in Lawrenceville around 2 a.m. after a caller reported that lightning hit the house. A firefighter was injured after the roof collapsed, officials said. He was taken to Grady Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported. Nearly a dozen family members were able to get out of the home. The American Red Cross will assist the family.
