Lightning strike blamed for apartment building fire that displaced 24 in Alpharetta

24 people are without a home after a lightning strike sparked a fire that badly damaged an apartment building in northern Fulton County Tuesday. It happened at the Woodhaven at Park Bridge Apartments on Parkview Lane. The American Red Cross says nine families lived in the building, and theyโ€™re now assisting all 24 displaced residents. Neighbors described the terrifying moment the lightning hit, saying it wasnโ€™t just loud – they could feel it in their bones. โ€œIt sounded like lightning struck my own house. And Iโ€™m only two buildings over there. But it struck the roof here and the whole roof caught fire,โ€ said Dale Burton. A day later, Building 1000 was surrounded by fencing as restoration crews worked to clear out debris. Large fans were running to help air out the damage, and contractors began repairs. The Alpharetta Fire Department also suspects lightning caused the fire. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
