The Valdosta Fire Department (VFD) responded to an early Saturday morning house fire that left two people displaced. According to VFD, the fire happened in the 600 block of N. Toombs Street at around 4:10 a.m. The first unit arrived at the home within four minutes. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire conditions visible from multiple windows and doors, the release said. The fire was quickly brought under control. However, one firefighter was injured. The firefighter was taken to SGMC Health ER for treatment and was released. No other injuries were reported. Two occupants were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The fire was caused by an unattended candle, according to VFD.
