Deluxe Inn fire in Atlanta displaces two occupants, fire officials say

A fire broke out in multiple units at the Deluxe Inn in Southwest Atlanta on Tuesday morning and displaced two occupants, according to Atlanta Fire and Rescue (AFR).

AFR was called to the scene at the one-story motel on Campbellton Road just west of Fairburn Road at around 7 a.m. on Tuesday. A fire official said they had to shut down Campbellton Road to roll their hose across it, as the nearest hydrant was across the street.

AFR Public Information Officer, Captain Andrew Anderson, said investigators are assessing the cause of the fire, but they do not suspect arson. Fire heavily damaged the interior and roof of two units in the back-right of the motel complex.

Anderson said there were no injuries in the fire and that the American Red Cross is assisting those who stayed in those two units.

Campbellton Road reopened just after 9 a.m., but crews remained at the motel Deluxe Inn to investigate and clean up the scene.
