Ambulance catches fire with patient inside on GA 400 SB, Sandy Springs Fire says

All lanes were shut down on a state highway in metro Atlanta early Thursday morning due to an ambulance fire, according to officials. Sandy Springs Fire says the Central Ambulance was on GA 400 S near the Abernathy Road exit โ€œwhen the crews noticed smoke coming from under the hoodโ€ while trying to take someone to the hospital. Fire crews arrived at the scene to a large blaze. The fire was put out, and the patient was taken to the hospital by an AMR Ambulance, according to the fire department. No injuries were reported.
