Witnesses describe ‘frightening’ scene as condo fire erupts in Panama City Beach

VIDEO: Just after 1 PM Friday, a fire broke out in tower three of the Long Beach resort, located on Front Beach Road. โ€œIt was so scary!โ€ said resort guest and eyewitness Jennifer Hungerbuhler. โ€œWe were sitting there, getting ready to order our lunch, and a guy ran over and said ‘Thereโ€™s black smoke, someone call 9-1-1!’โ€ The fire caused damage to the East side of the 5th and 6th floors. “As we were walking, a giant gulf of smoke just came flying out of the building,โ€ said Matt Prange, another eyewitness to the fire. โ€œThe closer I got, the more flames were just pouring out of the building.โ€ Firefighters tell News Channel 7 that two individuals managed to escape the flames. โ€œNo injuries reported to either firemen or occupants of the units,โ€ said Tim Smith, the Battalion Chief for Panama City Beach Fire Rescue. Smith reports that the cause of the fire is still unknown, but state fire marshals are working to determine how it started.
