Two dead, three flown to hospitals following house fire in Charlotte County

Two people and three animals were killed in a late night house fire in Port Charlotte. According to Charlotte County Fire Rescue, the fire broke out around 11:23pm Tuesday night. When crews were dispatched to a home on Barre Dr NW., firefighters encountered flames coming through the roof and the living room engulfed along with reports of individuals trapped inside. Tragically, two people died. Multiple others sustained injuries, including four trauma alert patients. Three of those patients were airlifted to Blake Medical Center. The fourth trauma alert patient succumbed to their injuries before getting to the helicopter. In total, there are currently two patients in critical condition and three in stable condition. Two dogs and one cat also died in the fire.
