South Walton Fire District introduces new fire engine 6

VIDEO: In emergencies, every second counts, and in South Walton County, demand is rising fast. Call volume at the Inlet Beach Fire Station is up 62% over the past four years, a sign of rapid growth on the areaโ€™s east end. To keep up, the South Walton Fire District has introduced its newest asset: Fire Engine 6. โ€œThis is the first fire apparatus weโ€™ve put in service in the past 25 years as far as expansion services, weโ€™ve added ambulances over the years but as this community has continued to grow out here, the exponential growth weโ€™re seeing in the eastern portion of our county has really required us to be focused on this,โ€ said Ryan Crawford, Fire Chief Administrator at South Walton Fire District. To staff the new $661,000 fire engine, nine new firefighters have been hiredโ€”and several others promoted.
