A lightning strike sparked a barn fire Tuesday afternoon on Bermont Road, near Red Neck Mud Park, according to Charlotte County Fire & EMS. Firefighters were called to the scene around 4 p.m. and found the barn, which also contained a living area, already engulfed in flames. Crews launched an exterior attack to put out the fire.
No people were inside, but two dogs were. One made it out safely, while the other died, officials said. Charlotte County Animal Control was brought in to help. No injuries were reported. Fire officials confirmed lightning as the cause. WINK News has reached out to find out if anyone was displaced from this fire.
