Apartment fire in Northwest DC displaces multiple people

VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A fire that broke out in a Northwest DC apartment overnight displaced multiple people, DC Fire and EMS detailed.

Just before 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, DCFD said in a social media post that crews were responding to the 4800 block of 4th Street NW, with a fire reported showing from the roof of a two-story apartment building.

Photos upon firefightersโ€™ arrival show a billowing blaze. Shortly after they got to the scene, firefighters requested an additional two engines and truck. The fire, officials said, was on a rooftop deck and had extended into the top floor of the complex.

Then, DCFD said it extended to the apartmentโ€™s neighboring two buildings. The visible fire across the three buildings was extinguished by 3:45 a.m., with no reported injuries.

Investigators stayed at the scene into the early morning hours, with all three of the multi-family buildings in the area suffering damage. The Red Cross was requested to help the multiple people displaced.
