Street renamed in honor of Farmington’s bravest

PHOTOS: Community members from the town and safety communities came out Saturday for a special ceremony honoring the town’s bravest. “Thank you to everyone who came out to help us mark this momentous occasion,” wrote the Farmington Volunteer Fire Department over the weekend. Folks came out to the FVFD’s headquarters at 76 Main St. to honor past, present, and future men and women who serve. According to the FVFD, Main Street from Meadow Road to Farmington Avenue is now officially dedicated as the “Farmington Volunteer Fire Department Memorial Highway.”

“Special thanks to Neil Westerberg, Farmington Town Council Chair Joe Capodiferro, and State Representative Mike Demicco for the teamwork they put into making this happen,” wrote the FVFD. “We appreciate the support from all our local and state political representatives and Tunxis Hose Company No. 1, who were also in attendance.” In addition to the road being renamed, a new plaque marking the occasion now adorns the FVFD firehouse.
