‘Neighbors helping neighbors.’ Trumbull Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Inc. celebrates 100 years of service

VIDEO: October is National Fire Prevention Month, and one local volunteer fire department is celebrating a century of service.

For the past 100 years, members of the Trumbull Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Inc. have stayed cool under pressure. โ€œItโ€™s very important to help your community,” Chief Richard Gregory says. “It’s neighbors helping neighbors.”

The department recently held its annual open house event with live firefighting demos for the community. โ€œWeโ€™re always promoting fire safety every time we do something in the community,” Chief Gregory says. “Itโ€™s very rewarding to hear the children actually have the answers before the adults.”

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the department says itโ€™s very important to have working smoke detectors, working carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers in your home.
