Fire destroys Stamford auto repair business

PHOTOS: A blaze destroyed a local auto repair business in Stamford, fire officials said. The fire happened around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Dyke Lane, the deputy fire chief and shift commander Matthew Palmer said. Crews saw smoke and fire visible from the main garage door and all of the windows. Palmer said first and second alarm fire companies worked to bring the fire under control and contain the fire damage to the building, but an adjacent building received minor fire damage. The fire was under control within 45 minutes, and crews remained on the scene for an additional 3 hours performing overhaul duties, according to Palmer. An employee of the business sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, Palmer said. No firefighters were injured, Palmer said.
