CT Water Grant To Enhance Guilford Fire Operations

The Guilford Fire Department has been awarded a $2,000 grant from The Connecticut Water Company’s Firefighter Support Grant Program to enhance fire operations in town.

Money will be used to purchase slow close hydrant valves, according to an announcement from the town, which will help firefighting efforts as well as protect CT Water’s infrastructure.

The utility company says $20,000 is given out each year through the program, which is completely funded by the Charitable Giving Program, and is not recovered in customer rates. Program criteria notes that grants may be used to offset some or all of the cost for the purchase of the following:

  • Slow-close hydrant valves, backflow preventers, isolation valves
  • Water handling equipment
  • Firefighting tools
  • Education, training and related materials used to support fire protection.

“We are proud to serve the communities in which we live and work – and to honor and support those that serve us,” CT Water says on its website.
