VIDEO: A car fire was reported inside a cemetery in New Britain on Wednesday morning. Around 3 a.m., an eyewitness who lives on Stanley Street reported that she heard a loud boom and it felt like it made her house shake. Emergency services responded to the scene and discovered a vehicle overturned in St. Mary Cemetery.
The driver of it appeared to have lost control. According to police, the driver took out a utility pole before the vehicle crashed in the cemetery and rolled onto its side. No injuries were reported. A tow truck was on the site to help flip the car back onto its wheels.
Firefighters and police said they were working within the cemetery to determine the cause of the incident. Firefighters cleared the scene later in the morning, but an area near Long and Allen streets was closed. The Fire Marshalโs Office is investigating the incident.
