Firefighters spent hours Friday night battling a fire on Lookout Mountain that started due to fireworks. Foothills Fire and Rescue in a Sunday morning Facebook post said crews responded to reports of a brush fire the Tiers of Zion trailhead on the front side of Lookout Mountain at around 9 p.m. Friday night. They arrived to find an active fire moving at a moderate rate.
Genesee Fire and Golden Fire also responded, and the fire was eventually extinguished by midnight. โThis incident serves as a strong reminder of the importance of fire restrictions and the risks fireworks pose in our wildland areasโespecially during dry conditions,โ fire officials said. The fire department said the cause was confirmed to be by fireworks.
