Firefighters battle Lookout Mountain fire caused by fireworks

Firefighters spent hours Friday night battling a fire on Lookout Mountain that started due to fireworks. Foothills Fire and Rescue in a Sunday morning Facebook post said crews responded to reports of a brush fire the Tiers of Zion trailhead on the front side of Lookout Mountain at around 9 p.m. Friday night. They arrived to find an active fire moving at a moderate rate.

Genesee Fire and Golden Fire also responded, and the fire was eventually extinguished by midnight. โ€œThis incident serves as a strong reminder of the importance of fire restrictions and the risks fireworks pose in our wildland areasโ€”especially during dry conditions,โ€ fire officials said. The fire department said the cause was confirmed to be by fireworks.
