Vista firefighters free worker trapped in pizza dough machine for nearly an hour

VIDEO: Fire and rescue crews spent nearly an hour freeing a worker whose feet became trapped in an industrial pizza dough machine at a North County business Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at Pinsarella Roman Pizza, a dough-making company located behind the Shadowridge Plaza shopping center in Vista. Vista Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Brendan Halle said the worker was cleaning the machine when it unexpectedly engaged.

“A worker was cleaning the machine, and it engaged for unknown reasons, and both of his lower accessories became trapped in the roller type pieces equipment in the machine,” Halle said. Multiple agencies responded, including Vista Fire and Rescue, San Marcos Fire, Cal Fire and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.”Our unit itself comes with rope special cutting equipment like a plasma torch, things we might need to actually cut steel,” Halle said.
