Wynne firefighters train as EMTs in new partnership with community college

A partnership with a community college in Wynne is helping firefighters save more lives. East Arkansas Community College and the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership joined forces to provide firefighters with emergency medical technician training. The fire department will save on the cost of training its firefighters.

Chief Kory Ward said the duty of firefighters has expanded. โ€œWe try to make sure we maximize our abilities, our education, and the opportunities that they have to best serve our citizens and be proud to be here, to work here, to live here,โ€ Ward said. The chief said the city also saves the cost of putting an officer through EMT training. He said one class has already graduated thanks to the partnership. The department has five EMTโ€™s and one paramedic on staff.
