Sharp County first responders receive Invictus Award

Four Sharp County first responders received recognition for their selfless actions during the April 5, 2025, flooding of the Spring River.

โ€œFirst responders from the Sharp County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Hardy Police Department, and Hardy Fire Department answered the call for a life-saving rescue amid rapidly rising waters,โ€ the Arkansas Department of Public Safety said.

Sheriff Shane Russell, Lt. Bryce Trivitt, Sgt. Lane King, and Deputy Creston Duncan were honored with the Invictus Award by the Arkansas Division of Law Enforcement Standards and Training.

In a Facebook post, the Arkansas Department of Public Safety said, โ€œTheir bravery, teamwork, and determination ensured that no lives were lost that night โ€” a true reflection of the strength and sacrifice of Arkansasโ€™s first responders.โ€
