Firefighters tackle 14-hour fire at former Clarksville ice plant

Fire crews spent much of Sunday battling a stubborn fire at the former ice plant located at Blackburn and Taylor in Clarksville.

Clarksville Fire and Rescue (CFR) said the blaze, fueled by pallets of compressed cardboard, required nearly 14 hours to bring under control.

CFR crews first responded just before 2 a.m. on Sunday and worked throughout the night to contain the flames. By mid-afternoon, firefighters were able to declare the fire under control and handed the site back to the property owner.

In a social media update, CFR cautioned that smoke is still visible at the building, but there is no threat to nearby structures.

โ€œAll smoldering remains are completely water soaked and contained within the non-combustible brick walls of the building,โ€ CFR stated.
