VIDEO: Phoenix police said a man has died after being hit by an SUV driver in an uptown intersection Monday afternoon. Authorities responded to the area of 7th and Missouri avenues, which is south of Bethany Home Road, just before 1:30 p.m. for reports of a person being hit by a car. Paramedics arrived and rushed 53-year-old Rodger Stanley Loar to the hospital, where he later died.
Investigators said the unidentified driver involved stayed on scene and that impairment doesn’t appear to be a factor. According to police, Loar was riding a motorized scooter in the crosswalk heading west on Missouri Avenue when an SUV driver heading north on Seventh Avenue made a right turn and hit him. Police said any recommended charges in the crash would come when the investigation is complete.
