Crews rescue 4 hikers from 3 Phoenix mountain trails over 1-hour period

Four hikers were rescued during three different calls to Phoenix-area mountains over a short period of time on Sunday. Around 11:30 a.m., technical rescue teams with the Phoenix Fire Department were dispatched to Dreamy Draw Recreational Area for reports of a distressed hiker. Firefighters found the man and walked him to a trailhead before he was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Other crews simultaneously responded to the Cholla Trail at Camelback Mountain around 11:50 a.m. for another report of hikers in distress. There, two people were helped from the trail and checked by paramedics, but did not go to the hospital. At 12:05 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to Deem Hills Recreation Area, where they found another hiker who needed help. He was brought down to the base of the trailhead using a โ€œbig wheelโ€ operation and transported to the hospital for evaluation.
