Man rescued after falling through ice near Kotzebue has died

The man who was rescued after falling through the ice near Kotzebue Saturday has died, according to Alaska State Troopers. 46-year-old Elmer Brown of Kotzebue died hours after he was rescued and taken to the local health clinic, troopers said. Around 11:30 a.m., troopers received a report that the three, all from Kotzebue, had fallen through the ice. Two of the men were riding snowmachines, and the third was riding a 4-wheeler, troopers said. Police said fire crews and search teams were sent to an area about half a mile from Lockhart Point after getting the report. An ambulance was standing by near Tent City. One man is still missing. One was able to safely make it to shore.
