At least one person displaced after Anchorage apartment fire

VIDEO: One person was transported to the hospital after a fire at an Anchorage apartment complex Friday night, Matt Carlson, the communications manager with the Anchorage Firefighters Union, said. He did not have details on the severity of the injury. The Anchorage Fire Department received the call to 4631 Juneau Street around 10:55 p.m. Friday. Thatโ€™s near Tudor and the Seward Highway.

Carlson said the call initially came in as a smoke alarm, but the crew did not know an apartment unit was on fire until they arrived. The American Red Cross of Alaska said it has heard of one person displaced so far. Carlson said some pets were evacuated. Anchorage Firefighters, a local firefightersโ€™ union, posted on Facebook about the fire. It said in part, โ€œYouโ€™ve probably seen countless fires on social media this year. This is not abnormal for us, there is just more documentation happening.โ€
