VIDEO: The Anchorage Fire Departmentโs 9/11 food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Alaska exceeded its goal by a landslide. The 9/11 food drive began on Labor Day and ran through Sept. 11. โOur original goal with this first-ever 9/11 food drive was 2,977 pounds, and that represents one pound for every life that was lost during 9/11,โ AFD Public Safety Officer Jason Dolph said. โIn just 11 days, 4,637 pounds of food poured in from AFD employees and members of the public,โ the Anchorage Fire Department said on Facebook, โthat equates to 3,864 meals.โ
