Multiple people and pets were rescued Sunday night from flash flood waters flowing into apartments following afternoon storms, according to Harvest Volunteer Fire Department. About 7:25 p.m., the fire department responded to the 200 block of Harvest Road for a service call involving the heavy flash flood waters flowing into several apartments.
The fire department says Harvest volunteers went door to door to assist in evacuating the residents and pets from the structures. One neighbor helped by using a lifted truck to transport residents and their belongings from the flooded area to higher ground. The fire department says no injuries were reported. At the time of the incident, storms left several roadways in the northside of the district closed due to being impassable. The fire department reminds the public, if water is running across the road, please turn around and avoid trying to pass through it.
