Athens Fire and Rescue rescues three furry friends from fire

PHOTOS: Firefighters from Athens Fire and Rescue (AFR) rescued three cats from a structure fire on Wentworth Drive Monday morning. Authorities said Engine One, Engine Two, Engine Three, Truck One, and Battalion One all responded to the emergency call at 9:48 a.m. AFR said they were unresponsive when they were found in heavy smoke, zero visibility conditions. They were resuscitated with high-flow O2. The other cat was hiding underneath a bed. The homeowner attempted to find them before AFR arrived. โ€œWeโ€™re thrilled that these adorable fur babies are safe and sound,โ€ City of Athens Communication Specialist Justin Travis said.
