No injuries reported after fire in Natrona County

No one was injured after a house fire in Midwest early Sunday morning. According to a release from the Natrona County Fire District, emergency crews were called to a report of a house fire on Sullivan Street just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Crews from the Natrona County Fire District, Salt Creek Emergency Services and Bar Nunn Fire Department, as well as a Banner Health ambulance and deputies from the Natrona County Sheriffโ€™s Office, responded to the scene, where they found a fire in the kitchen of a family home. Crews were able to quickly contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to the rest of the home.

According to the release, people inside the home were awoken by the smell of fire and were able to self-evacuate before crews arrived. There were no reported injuries to residents or emergency responders, they said. The cause is under investigation.

The release says that no working smoke detectors were in the home. โ€œThis incident serves as an important reminder of how critical properly installed and maintained smoke detectors are to life safety,โ€ it said. โ€œWeโ€™re extremely grateful that everyone made it out safely.โ€
