A man has been charged with destruction of property following an incident at a Gillette fire station, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Circuit Court in Campbell County. The affidavit, filed Nov. 10, names the State of Wyoming as the plaintiff and identifies Tyler Loman as the defendant. The document alleges that Loman caused between $2,500 and $5,000 in property damage. Misdemeanor charges were served on Loman, pending formal criminal information from the Campbell County Attorneyโs Office.
According to the affidavit, the damage occurred on Nov. 12 at approximately 1 p.m. on Rohan Avenue, the location of Fire Station 1 in Gillette. The report that formed the basis for the probable cause was initially made on Nov. 12 after firefighters discovered a broken front door handle at the station.
Several firefighters reported the damage to the fire chief. Firefighters told officers they noticed the handle had been broken after a man later identified as Loman attempted to enter the lobby.
The battalion chief told the officer that he had arrived at the station as Loman was driving by. According to the affidavit, Loman allegedly stopped his vehicle, got out, approached the front door and โwrestledโ the handle back and forth while trying to get inside.
A firefighter showed the officer a photograph of the man they believed was involved. The officer reported that he immediately recognized Loman from the photo due to prior professional contact. Witness accounts, combined with the officerโs identification, formed the basis for the probable cause supporting the charge.
