At approximately 7:37 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Fremont County Fire Protection District units responded to a series of six small grass fires reported along Highway 26 and Highway 133 near the Kinnear area. Responding resources included four battalions. Firefighters from all four battalions quickly worked to suppress the fires and prevent further spread. The fires were contained without any structures being threatened, and no injuries were reported. Crews remained on scene to mop up and check for hotspots.
The cause of the fires is currently under investigation. Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling through dry grassland areas. Avoid pulling over into tall grass or brush, as hot vehicle components can easily ignite fires under current conditions.
