VIDEO: Two Merrimac firefighters were sent to the hospital after a training exercise Tuesday night, the Merrimac Fire Department said in a Facebook post. The Merrimac Fire Department explained firefighters were doing training exercises along HWY 113, north of HWY 78.
Around 7:15 p.m., one of the water tender trucks lost control, rolled into a ditch and pinned two people inside. Other Merrimac crews began giving aid and were able to get both people out of the truck quickly. Both individuals were airlifted to UW Hospital in Madison for their injuries and are expected to be OK. According to the Merrimac Fire Department, the truck was operating under normal conditions. The Sauk County Sheriffโs Office will be investigating the crash.
