Shawano County fire departments use over 500,000 gallons of water to fight large fire in Tigerton

VIDEO: Shawano County fire departments used over 500,000 gallons of water to extinguish a large structure fire in Tigerton on Saturday. Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Tigerton Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Cedar Street. They found heavy smoke coming from the attic of the building and began to attack the fire.

Because of deteriorating conditions, the Tigerton Fire Department called for mutual aid from nearby fire departments. Eventually, the 5th level of the mutual aid system was called for, and tankers with water and water source fill sites were set up to help fire crews handle the blaze. The Tigerton Fire Department says the building is a total loss. Everybody in the building evacuated before fire crews arrived, and nobody was hurt. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire crews used about 540,000 gallons of water to extinguish it.
