Pets killed, man injured in Wood County house fire

VIDEO: The Vesper Fire Chief said a man was injured and several pets have died in a house fire Wednesday evening. The fire was reported around 7 p.m. on Haferman Road in the town of Seneca. The location is northwest of Wisconsin Rapids. When crews arrived the home was engulfed and several vehicles in the driveway were on fire. A man living in the home was transported to a nearby hospital. The cause of the fire was determined to be a motorcycle in the garage. Firefighters were on scene for approximately 3 hours.

Vesper firefighters were assisted by Port Edwards, Nekoosa, Wisconsin Rapids, Rudolph, Arpin, and Pittsville fire departments. Additional assistance was provided by United Ambulance, Wood County Sheriff’s Dept. Wood County Central RIT, WE Energies, Wis Rapids Water & Light Commission, and Wood County Dispatch. The home, contents, and multiple vehicles were a total loss. Occupants are being assisted by American Red Cross.
