VIDEO: One person was taken to a hospital after an apartment building fire on Dec. 14 near 105th Street and Lancaster Avenue, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department. The fire department said they were dispatched around 4:12 p.m. This was upgraded to a two-alarm fire by the fire department because of the size of the 24-unit apartment building, the number of residents and the cold, the fire department said.
The frigid cold created issues for firefighters, according to the Milwaukee Fire Department, because masks can freeze up and water can turn into ice. Additional resources were brought in to make sure the equipment didn’t freeze.
One person was taken to a hospital due to smoke inhalation, the fire department said. No firefighters were injured.
