One Displaced Following Fire on Madison’s North Side

One person is displaced following a fire on Madison’s north side Saturday afternoon. The Madison Fire Department responded to a multi-unit condominium complex on Maple Wood Lane for smoke reported in the hallway and alarms sounding by multiple residents. Additionally, a passerby reported smoke from a second-floor window.

Crews arrived at 3:34 p.m. to find smoke coming from the second-floor. Additional Madison Fire Department crews arrived to assist. MFD reported knockdown was achieved at 3:48 p.m. Sherman Avenue and Aberg Avenue was closed for approximately 50 minutes. Additional MFD crews performed secondary search and rescue, confirming no fire extension or victims. Paramedics evaluated and took one occupant for minor fire-related injuries. Two cats died in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
