VIDEO: The Monona Fire Department responded to a blaze at an apartment building Saturday night. Fire crews were called to the 800 block of West Broadway for a waterflow alarm, it was found to be an active fire which extended the call into a full building response.
The fire was put out quickly. A single sprinkler head opened before the fire department arrived and contained the fire to the kitchen. Crews remained on scene for an extended time checking for hot spots and assisting with limiting water damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation but crews don’t believe it appears to be suspicious. No injuries or fatalities were reported. Monona fire reported there were no occupants home at the time of the fire, and one dog was rescued, also with no injuries. The apartment was deemed temporarily uninhabitable with two occupants and their dog displaced. The damage estimate is unknown.
