VIDEOS: Milwaukee Fire Department crews battled flames and a roof collapse at a building fire on the city’s south side. Crews were battling those flames near the intersection of South 13th Street and West Layton Ave on New Year’s Eve.
A 12 News photojournalist at the scene recorded images of flames pouring from the building. Video from CJ Zigler Media, an independent multimedia organization, shows what appeared to be a two-story structure.
In a brief phone call Wednesday night, Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski said crews were attacking the 2nd floor of the building, but referred additional questions to the deputy fire chief at the scene. It was not immediately clear if anyone was in the building when the fire started or what caused it.
