Man taken to hospital after bluff rescue in St. Francis

VIDEO: Emergency crews pulled off a bluff rescue on Oct. 1 for an injured man on the shore of Lake Michigan at Bay View Park, according to the St. Francis Fire Department. The fire department said they arrived around 4:20 p.m. after receiving a call for someone who had gone over the bluff.

When the fire department arrived, someone with the St. Francis Police Department and the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office was already at the scene. An off-duty Milwaukee Fire Department firefighter was with the man.

The fire department said it’s still unclear whether or not the man fell. Other agencies used a pulley system to rescue the man from the bluff because the fire department said it was the quickest way to get to him.

The fire department said the man was alert while being taken to a hospital, but could not provide any more specifics on his injuries. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
