Man taken to hospital after being rescued from Chippewa River in Eau Claire

VIDEO: The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to the Chippewa River Tuesday for a water rescue. According to a press release from the Eau Claire Fire Department, on June 10, 2025, at 8:03 a.m., a man was found in the river struggling to stay afloat between the Lake Street bridge and the Water Street bridge.

The press release says a firefighter with the Eau Claire Fire Department entered the river wearing a water rescue suit, swam to the person, and kept them afloat until an ECFD boat assisted. The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
