The Madison Fire Department is trying to make Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) more accessible with its new, free ‘AED Library’ program. Starting this week, people in the city can reserve Avive AEDs for events like sporting matches, family reunions, and picnics.
The program, launched during National CPR and AED Awareness Week, aims to increase survival rates from cardiac arrest. The Avive AEDs are lightweight and feature settings for children and Spanish-language instructions. To reserve an AED, contact the Madison Fire Department. Devices should be returned within three days after the event. The department also encourages learning hands-only CPR to further improve community safety. A free class will be held on June 25 at Fire Station 13.
