Kitchen Fire Damages Holmen Home

Crews responded to a kitchen fire at a residence on Wolfe Drive early Wednesday morning. Just before 6 a.m., arriving responders saw visible flames and smoke coming from the kitchen at 1510 Wolfe Drive. The homeowner tried to use a small fire extinguisher before evacuating the building, according to a release sent out Thursday.

Crews were able to knock down the fire within 15 minutes but remained on the scene until well after 7 a.m. to assist with ventilating the home and preventing any extensions of the fire into the walls or attic spaces. The homeowner was evaluated on scene by medical staff. They were not taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported. The homeowner safely evacuated their dog. One cat was later found safe, though another is still missing, officials said. The kitchen suffered major damage, with more smoke damage done to the dining and living room areas. The cause is still under investigation.
