VIDEO: Germantown first responders went door to door Tuesday morning in the Riversbend Circle subdivision to check on all residents because of ongoing flooding and a power outage. Residents were not required to evacuate, but the village wanted to inform them of the current power outage and check their well-being.
By the end of the morning, 16 different first responding agencies rescued 48 people from their homes. Sixty-eight chose to stay, according to Germantown Fire Department Chief John Delain. One person was hurt, along with a firefighter. “We have lived on the pond here for seven years,” said Yvonne Gordon. “It’s beautiful. It comes up a little. but has never gone (so far up); you can fish from our deck right now.” Firefighters took Gordon and her husband Bill by boat on Tuesday. “I’ve driven that road many times, never saw it in a boat,” Gordon joked.
