Fire spreads between 2 Cudahy homes near Sheridan Park

VIDEO: A fire that started in one Cudahy home spread to a neighboring house, prompting a multi-agency response. The blaze broke out around 9 a.m. near Hatley and Barnard avenues in Cudahy, next to Sheridan Park.

The fire began in a house before spreading to a neighboring house, according to the resident of the second home. Fire departments from Cudahy, Greenfield and Milwaukee responded to battle the two-alarm blaze. Firefighters deployed two ladder trucks to access the fires, which affected both single-family homes.

“It started in the west house, and extended. The buildings are close together. Where it meets the building is 10-12 feet of space, so when you have a fire it’s easy to extend,” said Chief Jeff Bloor of the Cudahy Fire Department. “Two buildings is twice the amount of everything, to search, to evacuate, that’s necessitated the second alarm.” The resident of the second house confirmed that everyone in his home escaped safely. The status of occupants from where the fire originated is unknown.
