VIDEO: One person is dead after a fire in Oshkosh on Sunday afternoon. Just before 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Oshkosh Fire Department responded to the 1600 block of Burdick Street for a report of a structure fire. Crews on the scene reported heavy smoke and fire, and neighbors told firefighters that there were two people who lived in the home. Before the fire was under control, fire crews found one person in the home and transported them to a local hospital. The person was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other person was not at home during the fire. Authorities say the home sustained heavy damage from smoke and fire, and that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
