Explosion at Chippewa Falls’ Hewlett Packard Enterprise injures worker

VIDEO: An explosion at Hewlett Packard Enterprise on Cashman Drive prompted an emergency response Tuesday morning. Firefighters arrived quickly after the report of smoke and an injured worker.

Fire Chief Jason Thom said the evacuation was ongoing when the units arrived. “Firefighters entered the building and were able to locate the source of the smoke,” Thom said. They confirmed there was no active fire.

The injured worker was treated and taken to a hospital.

The incident was linked to contractors working on ductwork, causing a small flash fire. The ductwork and building were checked for safety, smoke was ventilated, and the site was returned to the tenants.

The Chippewa Falls Police Department assisted in the response.
