Everyone is safe after a fire breaks out in Rice Lake home

On Tuesday at around 3:45 p.m. the Rice Lake Fire Department was called to a house fire at 20 Reuter Avenue in the City of Rice Lake. People were in the home at the time but they made it out of the structure before crews arrived. Crews arrived to find a home with smoke showing from the west side of the roof eaves. Firefighters began putting out the fire that was in a bedroom on the second floor of the home. The fire was under control by 4:05 p.m. Additional firefighters were used for ventilation and overhaul after the fire was out. The fire was contained in the room where it started, with smoke and water damage throughout the home. An initial damage estimate for the structure and contents is $125,000. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
