Local firefighter and veteran Jeffrey J. Maynard has been honored as the Wisconsin Firefighter of the Year, a recognition of his 30 years of service and life-saving work.
VFW Post 664 in Embarrass nominated Maynard for the award back in December 2024. His nomination was selected from more than 220 entries statewide, and he officially received the honor this summer at the Wisconsin Firefighters Convention. Embarrass Fire Chief John Ziereis praised Maynard in his recommendation, describing him as โa generous, helpful, kind and caring individual, always willing to help others.โ Throughout his three decades of service, Maynard has saved multiple lives and earned the respect of his colleagues and community.
