Chili-Fremont Fire Department receives $5,000 Nutella grant

The Chili-Fremont Fire and Rescue Department received a $5,000 grant from Nutella through the companyโ€™s partnership with the National Volunteer Fire Council to purchase new rescue equipment. The Chili department was one of five volunteer fire departments nationwide selected for the grants through Nutellaโ€™s Stacks for Giving Back program. The program awarded $25,000 total in grants this year.

The department will use the money to buy Rescue 42s and stabilization equipment, including lightweight cribbing blocks for vehicle and agricultural rescue incidents. The current equipment is more than 15 years old and requires three to four firefighters to deploy, while the new equipment can be operated by one or two responders. โ€œWe are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive community and to be recognized through this generous grant,โ€ Capt. Alex Lendved said in a news release. โ€œThis funding from Nutella and the NVFC will help us improve our response effectiveness and make a real difference in our ability to serve our community.โ€
