Tuesday morning, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to a fire at a commercial structure on the 1700 Block of Industrial Drive in the Village of Bellevue. Crews found heavy smoke conditions and flames from a vehicle that was inside the building. The fire had extended into the attic space. The initial crew encountered some difficulty in accessing the attic space due to steel sheeting that covered the entire ceiling of the building.
The fire was able to be knocked down, and a rapid search revealed no occupants. The cause of the fire was determined to be a Lithium battery charging failure. Damage to the structure and contents is initially estimated at $125,000. A total of 31 firefighters manning six engines, one ladder truck, and two ambulances responded to the scene, along with three command officers and three fire investigators. The Brown County Sheriff Department, Brown County Communications Center, and the Bellevue Water Department assisted in the response.
